Summersong.

#4 done. I went for a lovely walk with Tyler yesterday and we explored a part of downtown which I hadn't seen before. It was quite an adventure: we saw a miniature Eiffel Tower, a baby bunny, found a discarded love letter, and I picked a dandelion bouquet. Dandelions are surprisingly difficult to come by in the city, especially when you're looking for them. So I was very excited to run across these few dandelions. I think they were waiting there for me.

Also # 20 is done. I needed to learn the presidents just in case I'm on Jeopardy someday. Feel free to quiz me.

Paper Flowers.

I've been eyeing these tissue paper pom poms from PomLove's Etsy shop for quite some time now. They remind me of beautiful big floating peonies and I'm convinced that one or two of them would be perfect hanging over my work table. The only problem is that they come in so so so many different colors... and I am the most indecisive person I know.

Neighborly Love.

With the help of a few friends and some creative engineering the pulley-system is finally up and running. Meg and I have been wanting to do this since last summer because we are always calling each other saying, "hey, can I borrow your..." or "I have something to show you!" Now instead of having to walk to the other apartment (which may take a whole minute) we can just send special things from one kitchen window to the other. And it makes me SO ridiculously happy to walk down the sidewalk and look up and see that string between our buildings! So funny.

Some of the things that Meaghan sent to me: jellybeans, oatmeal-raisin cookies, and corn muffin mix! I sent her a pie crust mix, a postcard, and popcorn.

It's a given that we'll have to send notes back-and-forth written on pretty paper and clothes-pinned to the string.

Marigold Petals.

#19 done. I now have an orange coffee table. This time I went to Home Depot with the goal of finding a marigold-ish color without spending an hour standing in front of the paint-swatches like I usually do. Not only am I indecisive, I just really like paint-swatches. Naming paint colors would be the greatest job ever. There were lots of different shades of orange and I thought that if I could just find a color called marigold it would make the epic color decision making process much easier. This color is called marigold petals and I think it was fate.

One of Those Days.

If you've never seen a brand-new bottle of hot pink nail polish fall out of a medicine cabinet, break in the sink, and explode all over the bathroom, then lemme' tell ya. It's quite a sight.

July.

So I'm at my family's house this weekend celebrating the 4th of July with fireworks, picnics, s'mores, sparklers, barbecues, and cousins; the whole nine yards. I'm also helping my mom sort through all of the junk in our house to get ready for the annual July neighborhood yard sale. While cleaning stuff out of the basement we found a box of paperwork dating back to the early 80s, and nestled in this box was the forty-dollar check that my dad wrote to the minister who married them in July of '84...the memo line says Thanks much! And there's the check for the ring. Aww! Mom was so excited.
