Art Collecting
I love trading art with friends. My dream is to have all the walls in my someday house covered in artwork made by talented artist friends. To me it makes a piece that much more meaningful when you know the person who made it, or you had a class together, and especially when you are fans of each other's work!
It totally made my day to receive this beautiful charcoal/acrylic drawing from my friend Dillon Sirimongkhon. He's an illustrator at CCAD and one of the best muralists in Columbus. Check out his website and it'll make your day. That said, if anyone wants to do an art swap, I'm in.

Bizness
In preparation for our upcoming trip out west I had some new business cards printed. As my mom would say, if you stand still long enough, I'll paint you marigold.

Currently Listening to
After being on the wait list for about 3 months I finally got to pick up the Fantastic Mr. Fox soundtrack at the library. And it was worth the wait as it turns out to be the perfect background music to listen to while working on art projects. Really makes me crave apple cider though.

Sketchbook Love
I just rediscovered these drawings that I did in Tyler's sketchbook about a year ago. I would sit in his room and draw quietly to keep him company while he worked on his thesis animation. I wanted to make him laugh and I'm proud to say that a year later he still thinks they're funny!

Material Collections
Here's a recap of my Material Collections show at Wild Goose Creative last month. Thank you to the folks at Wild Goose for inviting me to exhibit and to Katie and Tyler for helping me set up/tear down the work. Whew, color overload!
This comment left in the exhibition guestbook at Wild Goose Creative made my day and warmed my heart "My wife says she wants to live in the busy areas of your "canvas" and vacation in the wide blank spaces. I am inclined to agree with her!"

Christa Kimble Photography

Before we packed up our tables after the art sale my friend Christa and I did an art trade. I was lucky enough to go home with her poppy photograph pictured above as well as two other prints! Her photos are all equally as beautiful which means that I always have such a hard time choosing a favorite. Check out Christa's Etsy site for more of her work. What gal wouldn't want a lovely photo like this for Christmas?

Art Sale
A huge thank you to everyone who came to the CCAD Holiday Art Sale yesterday to support local Columbus and student artists. I met some of the nicest folks and watched my artwork go to good homes. There's no feeling in the world like seeing people get a big smile across their face when they look at your work!

LA here we come!
Tyler bought our airline tickets and reserved a rental car, it's official! We're heading out to California for two weeks in January on a mission to hunt down a few creative jobs (two to be exact) and spread our business cards and resumes around the town. I'm so looking forward to visiting Pixar and meeting my new little cousin Leo in Berkeley! Only there's so much to get done before January 9th rolls around, I'd better start cranking out portfolio discs like crazy. And working on my Ohio tan (yeah right)
