Bob Dylan
Happy 70th birthday Bob Dylan! I hope they throw you a birthday party, even though you don't strike me as a birthday party kinda guy. Thank you for making the music that shaped my childhood. And for putting on an awesome show in Columbus so that my dad and I could cross you off of our concert bucket list. Thanks for wearing a sequined vest for that show, it was spectacular.

Sunday
Tyler and I spent the afternoon at the Columbus Museum of Art where my number one favorite artist of all time, Aminah Robinson, was doing a story time Q&A event. She read her book A Street Called Home about the local characters from her childhood in Columbus. Before the festivities she signed some books for me AND she remembered me from the first time we met almost five years ago! She recalled the paper mache pin that I made for her and in exchange she gifted me with some buttons from her collection. And she was excited to hear that I have used those buttons in my own quilts. Aminah is the reason I went to college at CCAD and her work will have an impact on everything that I make for the rest of my life, so I could not pass up the opportunity to have my picture taken with her!
Tyler got to see some Chuck Jones cells of Coyote, the Roadrunner, and Porky Pig while we were at the museum. He's the biggest animation fan ever!

Happy Weekend
Happy weekend friends! Hope the weather is wonderful wherever you are. The highlight of my week definitely was taco disco night with our friends Pei & Greg. Thank you guys for feeding us and thoroughly entertaining us with Donna Summer and margaritas! On an unrelated note, here is a recently unearthed picture of me from when I was 7. Wonder who put the stand here chalk mark on the deck, me or mom? Either way, love the corn and sunflowers and tomatoes in the background!

I Love Surprises!
YAY! I was conducting a routine check of my favorite design blogs and found myself looking right at my painting...on Design for Mankind! Thank You Thank You Thank You to Lauren Willhite of Color Collective for sharing my painting in her Color Mankind post! How cool is that?...I'm a big fan of Lauren's style and her color palettes are the perfect jumpstart for an art-block. What a wonderful surprise!

Happy Day
Our dear sweet friends Pei & Greg graduated today! It's hard to believe that it's already been a year since Tyler & I graduated...crazy! Ty went to cheer them on (i had to work) and he took some great pictures of Pei & Greg outside of the Ohio Theater. Mike Altman, CCAD grad and Pixar modeler who showed us around the Pixar campus during our visit to Emeryville last January, gave the commencement speech. Congratulations to all of the new CCAD alumni! Keep on creating and making the world a more colorful place.

Yes Please!
Cute boys playing banjos. Only fifteen more days until the Avett Brothers' concert (I surprised Tyler with tickets!) I sure hope they play this one!
Goodbye Apartment
Today we gave notice to move out of our little downtown Columbus apartment. I didn't expect to feel so sad about it, but when you've lived in a place for five years and you're only twenty-three years old, that's a decent chunk of lifetime spent in one place. Apartment, you've been the perfect place for building blanket forts and watching movies. And feeling like I live up high in a tree house will definitely be miss-worthy (California here we come!!!)

Mother's Day
Happy Mother's day to all the mothers out there! An especially happy day to my mom Kay, (isn't she so cute?) my Columbus mom Vicki Frost, and Ty's mom Dee ...somehow I completely lucked out and get to have three amazing moms!!! Thank you mom for keeping me alive and happy, bribing me with new clothes, and loving my artwork for the past 23 years. I love you so much!

Highschool Flashback
Hallie, Christina, and I got together last weekend for a slumber party just like we used to in jr. high and highschool. We don't get to see each other very often so it was a treat to stay up late with them eating pizza and watching chick flicks. Only nowadays there's wine involved!

Happy Birthday Dad!
My dad is the type of extraordinarily kind person who would do anything for anyone. One time he met an Amish man and gave the guy a ride out to the middle of nowhere so that he could attend a family birthday party. Old ladies at the grocery store ask him to reach things on the high shelves and he always always always brings me bags of groceries whether I need them or not. Thanks to my dad I learned how to look for arrowheads after the fields have been plowed and the lyrics to every Steve Miller Band song. He has spent years patiently waiting on the bench at the mall and never complains about being the only guy in a house full of girls. He loves my artwork. And he is a pro at coming up with endless crazy nicknames for me and my sister. Even our cat Julio shamelessly adores Dad over everyone else and follows him around the house like shadow. Happy birthday to my wonderful dad! Hope it's your best year yet!
